Am i Racist Matt Walsh’s New Film: A Hilarious Experience
Am i Racist Review 2024 |
Introduction
I recently watched Matt Walsh’s latest movie, and it
was hilarious! As someone who’s followed Walsh’s work, this film did not
disappoint. After getting into politics about a year and a half ago, Walsh’s
work, including What is a Woman?, resonated with me through humor and insight.
His latest movie brought the same level of entertainment while addressing
serious issues in a sarcastic way.

A Surprising Theater Experience
Walking into the theater, I noticed something
interesting – it was mostly white people. While I expected this in a
predominantly white area like Waterford, Michigan, it made me question whether
the film would reach its target audience, particularly Black viewers. The
reaction of two guys sitting near me, who seemed pleased to see a Black person
there, was amusing. The theater experience showed how this movie might be
preaching to the choir rather than reaching those who might benefit from its
message.
The Film's Message: Tackling Racism in a Unique Way
One thing that stood out about the movie was its
sarcastic approach to issues like racism and DEI (Diversity, Equity,
Inclusion). Matt Walsh does a fantastic job of making the audience
uncomfortable, yet it’s all part of his brilliance in driving home his points.
He puts himself in situations that feel awkward but serve to highlight the
absurdity of some people's beliefs.
The film makes you realize how easy it is for people to
be brainwashed into thinking in a certain way. While racism still exists, it’s
not as widespread as some make it out to be. As a Black person who’s grown up
around white people, I’ve rarely experienced racism. This movie shows how some
people are quick to use racism as a scapegoat, which is something I’ve always
found frustrating.
Challenging the Victim Mentality
What I appreciated most was Walsh’s interactions with
other Black people in the film. While he didn’t talk to many, those he did
speak with rejected the victim mentality, which was refreshing. Many Black
people grow tired of being constantly reminded of slavery and racism, as I did
growing up. The film emphasizes that focusing on the past only hinders
progress.
Walsh points out that most people don’t even understand
terms like systemic racism and DEI. It’s a forced narrative that’s been shoved
down people’s throats. At one point, Walsh pays a woman $50,000 for a
two-minute interview, which was ridiculous yet helped prove a point. This
absurdity highlights how far people will go just to seem virtuous or to make
others feel better.
The Need for Black Leaders in These Conversations
While Matt Walsh has made a great film, I believe the
Black community would benefit even more if a prominent Black figure took on
this role. Unfortunately, many Black leaders are too afraid of being labeled as
Uncle Toms for speaking out against the victim narrative. Imagine if someone
like Denzel Washington or Michael B. Jordan made a movie like this—it could
spark real conversations and change mindsets in the Black community.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Matt Walsh’s latest film is hilarious and
insightful. While it may not reach the audience it needs to, it presents a
valuable message in a humorous, thought-provoking way. I highly recommend
watching it, especially for those who are tired of the victim mentality and
want to see things from a different perspective. While I won’t give it a rating
due to the nature of the film, I encourage everyone to give it a watch—it’s
definitely worth your time.
Summery
Matt Walsh’s latest film is a hilarious and thought-provoking take on racism and DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion). Through sarcasm and uncomfortable situations, Walsh highlights the absurdity of some societal beliefs and challenges the victim mentality often associated with racism. The film is aimed at both Black and white audiences but may not reach its intended target. As a Black viewer, I found Walsh’s interactions with other Black individuals refreshing, showing not everyone is trapped in a victim mindset. While the film isn’t perfect, it effectively delivers its message and offers a unique, humorous perspective on these important topics.
